This past Saturday was Steeplechase ...only my favorite day of the Nashville year! For the past week I have been stalking weather.com, hoping the forecast would improve for the big day. It didn't, but that wasn't about to stop us!We met at Casi's around 8am to unload our cars and pack up the Tahoe in the rain, rode out to the park in the rain, set up the lot in the rain...rain rain rain! About half way there, we realized that we had forgotten a bunch of stuff in another car back at Casi's. We made a couple of phone calls and Abi, Adam, Mal and Erik were the Super Steeplechasers of the day and turned around to rescue some food and decor! By the time they made their rescue mission, trudged a mile back through mud and made it to the lot, the rain had stopped, the lot was set up and we were plowing our way through mimosas and jell-o shots! As the day went on we enjoyed some good tunes, yummy food, corn hole, more jell-o shots, muddy feet, sombreros, meeting new friends, big cups, fun koozies...oh yeah, and horse races :)
Holding on to tradition, we were one of the last cars to leave the event. Everyone made it back safely and were all ready for a warm shower and a comfy bed!
Just because I won't be living in Nashville next May doesn't mean I am going to miss my favorite event of day drinking in pretty dresses, not to mention all the planning and preperation!
...only 363 more days until Steeplechase 2010!
